I was diagnosed at 20 so about the same age, it was a struggle at first but there is hope! There are loads of treatments available and it's just a case of finding the right one. But you need to know that there is no cure, only things that lessen the symptoms.

I tried everything, i had a bad reaction to one and i though that was it but after a while I'm in remission I take weekly humira injections and I'm as regular as clockwork if you know what I mean!

Just be supportive and let her know that things do get better, I just used to plan my meal times, skipped lunch and found that having 6 snack size meals per day instead of 3 main meals really helped.

My condition whilst on the severe spectrum didn't stop me doing anything, you just need to plan ahead. Perversely when on holiday I am better than at home, I put it down to dehydration!

Crowns and colitis uk is a great source of help and advice.

My partner has recently been diagnosed and is having great success with a paleo diet.

If I'm going on a long haul flight I will take immodiums, not ideal but it works for me. I have UC. Everyone is different but I kind of know my symptoms before a flare up so adjust to it as I also know I can't stop a flare up.

If I was to do a road trip I would prefer a camper van so it could have a portable toilet. Don't let it stop your life, just work around it.
