Cancelling restaurant bookings
Is there a set time that you need to cancel an unwanted reservation by, to avoid being charged? At WDW you need to link a credit card to a booking - you can cancel without being charge up to 24 hours before but after than, you will be charged for any no-shows. Is that the case at DLP too?

No, as reservations at DLP are not secured with a credit card.
I cancelled a Chef Mickey booking about an hour before in December as my DS was so tired I didn't think he'd cope with the characters.

I was not asked for any card details. All they asked were for my name, the number of people, a phone number and possibly which hotel I was staying in and e-mail address (I can't quite remember). But I definitely did not link a credit card to my bookings.

Yes, when we booked restaurants, we were only asked for our names, so they'd have had no way of knowing who we were to charge us, even if we'd simply not turned up with no notice. I guess if it's a busy restaurant / time, then they know there is enough demand that they'd fill unwanted tables quickly anyway. And if they're not fully booked, then they haven't turned anyone away for your booking, so no harm done.
We changed one of our bookings right before we were due to eat, and it was no problem (the children were having a nap and we decided to leave them a bit longer, so we just altered our booking to an hour later.) |

Is it easy to cancel? Can you do it at your hotel or do you have to phone?

You can do either. There is a concierge desk in the hotels and they are normally really helpful.

you can cancel etc your dining reservations at Guest Services inside the park too .

Maybe it's just us, but every time we've gone anywhere near Guest Services/City Hall, queues are always really long and take soooo long. So, if you can I'd recommend the Concierge route, or even popping into the restaurant direct up cancel, if you're passing!
