Disney Hotels Breakfast Change
Hi
We're booked to go to DLP in October. We're staying at Newport Bay and have just added the half board plus meal plan onto our package but I've just been told that breakfast is no longer in the Disney Hotels unless you pay an additional supplement? We'll need to go to Cafe Hyperion in the park for breakfast. Just wondered if anyone else has been told this? Thanks ☺ |

Yes, you only get 'free' breakfast now if you booked before 12th October 2016. You can pay for it & still have it in the hotel, I think it's expensive though. With the meal plan you get a quick service breakfast voucher & I was told the other day that it can only be used in cafe Hyperion, you can get a pastry with jam & butter & a hot or cold drink, or a breakfast omlete with a hot or cold drink.
If this is the only place that's accepting the breakfast voucher it's gonna be very busy! Edited at 03:15 PM. |

I think if you pay for the half board then it's still breakfast in the hotel. X

From my understanding the Café Hyperion breakfast is for people who have booked with the free half board meal plan, even if they upgrade to full board. If you have paid it should be a hotel breakfast.
"Meal plans from 29 March 2017 Choose your meal plan: ... Half board: This includes a breakfast buffet at your hotel & one meal (lunch or dinner) per person, for each night of your stay. Full board: This includes a breakfast buffet at your hotel & two meals (lunch and dinner) per person, for each night of your stay. " "Book now and get up to 30% Off your Hotel & Park Tickets Package, plus a Free Half Board Meal Plan for the whole party.* Your package includes: Accommodation in a Disney® Hotel Free Breakfast in a counter restaurant in the Parks for each night of your stay Free Lunch or Dinner for each night of your stay" Edited at 04:18 PM. |

No one really knows yet how it will work, probably not even DLP as I'm sure it will be tweaked several times over the coming months.
I would think more grab & go breakfast places will open, and perhaps EoS and Annette's may open earlier. |

Thank you to everyone who has replied ☺ I'm hoping it's a buffet breakfast in the hotel as I booked it after reading the meal plans showing on Disney website which says for half board plus that it is buffet breakfast in the hotel. Not very good if paid £500 for a quick pastry / omelette in Cafe Hyperion (which doesn't have great ratings).

You'll be fine. There's lots of confusion over all the different ways breakfast is included, depending on how it's been booked, so whoever told you that you wouldn't get a buffet breakfast was just getting in a muddle. It's very clearly stated on the meal plan pages (and Stocst's post above) that paying for a meal plan gets you the hotel buffet breakfast, no ambiguity about that at all.
It's the free meal plans that include counter service breakfast, and upgrading from free half board to full board is a bit of a grey area, where I've seen people being told different things. None of that will affect you, though. |

If you paid for the meal plan, then paid to upgrade to plus full board, you'll get the hotel buffet breakfast (assuming you're in a plus tier hotel) and two meal vouchers per person per day.
