Never heard of an iPhone locking to a sim, when you buy from the apple store make sure it is unlocked and contract free. By the time you have paid the price plus tax and then consider you have to declare it when you come back to the UK and pay import duty - definitely not worth it!

Dd bought her iPhone whilst working in Orlando
Works great here - no problems
Just make sure it's sim free
As others have said there is a new iPhone due soon
So there will be offers
Have a great holiday

I can defiantly say that IPhones do work over here, I broke mine at Disney, went to the Apple shop in Mall at Millenia and got another, yes it works.

DH and DD both bought one in June, it worked out about £450.00 from the Apple shop, in Florida Mall.

I got mine at the Apple store at Florida Mall. It actually worked out over £300 cheaper over two years than paying a contract over here. I think it was £1000+ on a contract over here for 2 years, but buying it in America and keeping to a sim only contract over here came to just under £700 for the year.

I've had no problems with it working over here. I bought a sim card cutter for £3 on eBay to cut my existing sim card.

Remember that you need to declare purchases over £350 (I think) to customs on your return and pay duty.

I was going to buy mine over there, but it turned out cheaper to get it on contract over here. The cost over there worked out at around £430 at the current exchange rate. I ended up paying £360 for the phone over two years with O2 as I got a good deal. Yes I know I am still paying for mu usage, but it was still a great deal.

Rang O2 today ( on a different issue) and asked if an unlocked American iPhone would work fine.

She confirmed it would and just need a new SIM card (due to the size)
