Is $100 enough?
Hi all,
Is $100 a day enough for foods and tips? There's 2 of us (myself and partner) and we don't have DDP. We get breakfast free at our hotel so its just for lunch, snacks and dinner. Thanks in advance! |

Dining budgets vary enormously depending on where and what you want to eat. What sort of places are you planning to eat? Onsite, offsite, buffets, table service, counter service? Do you want to drink alcohol?

It will be mainly in the parks and mainly counter service.
We're planning 2 'spare days' so may eat somewhere a little more expensive then. |

Onsite eating can be very expensive, and if you go to a table service restaurant you have to factor in tips. I personally don't think $50 for two meals and snacks is enough per person per day if you're eating onsite but it's not impossible.

I'd say it's not enough if you're going to eat table service in the parks.
Have a look at some of the menus (right hand side of this page). I'd say average meal at quick service is $13 plus drink and tax, but table service is considerably more (plus tax & tip) Snacks are typically $4-5.

Possible only if you have counter service twice most days and don't buy snacks, would then have enough 'spare' to have 1 or 2 table service restaurants.
Be v doable if you were going to eat off site sometimes! |

I seem to be in the minority but I feel like that's totally doable if you're going to be mostly doing quick service. Granted, we spent a lot more time in Universal than Disney but the prices are similar and we'd have been under that most days.

thanks everyone!
$100 was just us being optimistic but looks like we'll have to be a little more realistic |

We've always budget a $100 a day and found it plenty, even having some left over to roll onto the next day. You will find some days will be dearer than others depending where you eat, but in my opinion it's do-able.
