Overnight stopover from Miami to Orlando?

Now I've got over the shock of booking the BA fly drive deal, my thoughts are now turning to the drive from Miami up to Orlando. We arrive into Miami at 4.45pm and by the time we've cleared immigration, etc, I don't fancy the 3+ hour drive to Orlando after a long flight, especially as I'm the only driver. I'll have my 3 girls with me aged 15, 14 and 10. Where would be a good place to stop over for the night? I've had a quick look at Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach. Any recommendations?

I need somewhere to stop also. ... slightly out of miami towards orlando but cheap and cheerful as will literally be going to sleep there. X

We usually just stay in an airport hotel and pick the car up the next morning and drive up then. We have stayed at embassy suites and Homewood suites both very close to the airport cheap and cheerful.

If it were me factor in flight delays and immigration in Miami (4hrs in Aug just gone)
We prefer hotel near airport Homewood suites this year , great breakfast and with 3 kids is ideal. Can't see that available to book now, but next year we have booked Best Western near the airport, a suite hotel too as we have 3 young girls.

We stayed at Hilton Homewood suites Port St Lucie last August which was a 2 hour drive. Got up early (3am wide awake!) next morning and finished 2 hour drive to Universal . Was there by 9am
