My late mum used to make the best rolls with some type of scottish puff pastry they were awesome using Lorne sausage meat.

What I wouldn't give for a few now with beans.

My mam makes fab ones for Boxing Day buffet. Cumberland sausagemeat from local butcher, then she adds sage and onion. Wrapped in shortcrust pastry. She makes them small, as they are very rich. Gorgeous.

Would love to try this! Biggest problem is getting decent lorne sausage outside of Scotland. We have a butcher around 30 miles away, who does one that's acceptable, but still not quite right.

I really like high quality sausage rolls but couldn't eat rubbish ones.
I generally don't rate M&S food, but just has their smoky pulled port sausage rolls - delicious and will be buying again.
The best sausage rolls I have ever had are from a local butchers. These would be the ones we normally buy.

Thanks to this thread I have just heated myself up some frozen sausage rolls that didn't get used at Christmas.

Still never had a Greggs one.

Greggs vegan ones for me although the Linda McCartney ones are not a bad veggie option.

I’m a Veggie now, unfortunately the veggie ones do not compare. I no longer shop at Gregg’s, so if I fancy a Sausage Roll it’s the Aldi Vegan ones I get. They’re not too bad.
cant beat stanforths, especially for pies

I make my own, easy and delicious ( if I do say so myself!). Most shop ones are not tasty enough for us.
