Don't Be Grumpy! Feb 19- Day 6

Day 6- Hollywood Studios and a very rainy trip around the World Showcase- 26th Feb 19
The rain in Epcot mainly falls on the people.

So nice getting to wake up at the Grand Floridian! My little pull down murphy bed was quite comfortable actually, but I'm pretty short. Someone over 5 foot would be squashed up. It had a proper mattress on it too, not a fairly thin bit of foam like on the sofa or pull out beds I've slept on in DVC rooms before. I wasn’t a fan of the rainfall shower in the bathroom, though!

This morning it was off to Hollywood Studios again, so after a breakfast in the room consisting of yoghurt and toasted bagels, we headed out to catch the bus.

Our first fastpass was Slinky Dog, before which we got a return time for Alien Swirling Saucers. We didn't wait too long in the fastpass queue for either and especially enjoyed Slinky Dog. Never fails to make me smile!

Then we rode Star Tours on our way round to Backlot Express- would rather do that before lunch then after.

For lunch, Mum ordered chicken nuggets and I had a cuban sandwich which was rather unusual tasting because it had 2 kinds of meats and swiss cheese, but it was still very tasty. We decided not to order Cokes or anything at the ridiculous price of 4.50 per cup and usually, from that point on ordered iced water.

Did you know all this was hiding at the back?

After lunch we did Tower Of Terror, then felt suitably finished with Hollywood Studios so left for our resort, watching the gondolas glide along above our head as we hiked to the bus stop.

We relaxed for a while and ate some of our treats. I really enjoyed sitting on our balcony and watching the sunset.

Eventually we decided to head out to Epcot for the evening EMH- trouble was, it was pouring down with rain. Not a problem for me of course, but Mum was more hesitant because of her scooter. As we entered, loads and loads of people were leaving, despite it only being 7pm.

It was a peculiar feeling, much like we were entering a closed park, and I enjoyed the neon lights of Future World reflected onto the rain puddles, but we pushed on to the World Showcase, entering by Mexico. Our first stop was the Grand Fiesta Tour via an interesting exhibit about Coco. Most of the boats were going out empty!

We then continued our tour in Norway and only waited, get this, 15 minutes in the standby line for Frozen Ever After! The posted wait time was only 30 mins. I loved Oaken's shop and spotting him peeking through the window now and then.

We got out just in time- Illuminations had just begun, and because it was raining so hard, managed to get a next to the railing spot only slightly obscured by trees. This would be the very last time I got to watch Illuminations, and it was quite emotional. I always loved when each country's torch lit up in turn, followed by lights on each pavilion. It seemed slightly shorter today, but we did miss the first 5 minutes which may be why. Rest in peace Illuminations. I can't wait to see what the new show is like when we return.

After the show we continued round, admiring each country lit up and stopping in the US pavilion for the American Adventure show. No quick service places were open by then because it was now the EMH, and Mum was slightly annoyed because she needed to charge her scooter. Luckily she could charge it in the lobby of the show’s entrance.

Somehow, we actually made it all the way around the Showcase, and were really glad to get home to bed. Mum especially, because she was wet and struggling to manage the scooter, a poncho and the never ending rain.

I wasn't 'slightly annoyed' because I needed to charge my scooter: I was mightily pigged off because this particular scooter battery was faulty and I was having to charge it twice a day! We couldn't find a single quick service place open at Epcot (so we didn't get dinner) and I was desperate to charge my battery which was on the final red light and slowing right down. It was such a relief to be able to find the American Pavilion open so I could plug the scooter in and get enough juice into it while the show was on to get us back to the room so I could plug it in for the night.

Also, the reason I was struggling with the scooter and the poncho was because it was quite windy and I was having trouble trying to keep myself and the tiller covered from the rain. My arms got quite wet as it is.
