Can I change tickets to 13 months ahead ?

Virgin cancelled our flight for June 2020 on Friday I am going to whatsapp them Monday ( need annual leave authorising for next year ) ...but before I do I just wondered if they would let us transfer the flights to July 2021 even though the flights are not out yet just wondered if anyone knew ?

No the flights are not released yet for then. I�d request a cash refund and then book when you can.

Do you mean they cancelled 2021 and you want 2022 flights?- I would be interested in this too (albeit BA)

Depends when you booked. According to Virgin's website if you booked say before February 5th, 2021 they will write off the difference if the cost increases by �350 pp. Would be worthwhile contacting them to discuss your options and maybe having it put on an open ticket

Yes 2021 cancelled I was thinking of July 2022 but will have to contact them tomorro

You won�t get like for like for 2 reasons. 1 prices will have changed so you will need to rebook on 2022 prices. Also July is more expensive than June.

The rebooking policy of Virgin means that you will need to pay a fare difference for anything above �350 per person. The trouble is you need to rebook before the current travel date which you can�t because there is more than a year between new date and old date you won�t be able to. If Virgin do open tickets, these are unlikely to have more than a year on them too. I am sure it is worth a phone call, but I think a full refund is likely to be your best option,
