Daft question re GPS!

Can we use our own GPS on our mobile phones whilst driving in Orlando? Theres 2 of us that aren't driving so we would be in charge of phones/directions.
We are going to book a package tbrough virgin holidays so have to get a car through them for 21 days but there Gold Plus Insurance which includes GPS is £777.00 is extortionate and i want to try and keep the cost down!

We rarely use satnav over there unless we're going off the beaten track and for these occasional trips Joan has "Here we go" on her mobile. It's free and if you download the Florida maps over here it doesn't use data. Others such as Waze, Navmi and Google do the same I believe.

When you talk about insurance I assume you added the option to include CDW with no excess and, more importantly, $1m SLI and didn't just take the basic 3rd Party

Mick

PS

Never booked a Virgin package. Do you have to book the car hire through them?

You can but make sure you have a data plan that includes US data like EE or 3
We always rent from Andy at Discount Florida Car Hire and usually add on their Sat Nav hire , it’s £15 to cover the postage to you and back to them when you get home . Nice as you can programme in the places you know you’ll be going , like your villa, before you leave.
Andy is usually cheaper than Virgin anyway. Even with their “free” car.

So you can't just book a flight and a hotel through Virgin Holidays? I thought loads of Dibbers didn't hire a car as they used Uber and shuttle buses?

I’ve booked through virgin and on the page it asks... car or hotel transfer or private transfer... you pick what you want... we’re not having a car?

Nope!
Holiday, flights and car hire...been once before and used Virgin Holidays...all would prefer a hire car as dont want hassle of waiting about to be picked up, hassle of being ripped off (happened before to us).

The car option is usually “free” for as all car but by the time you’ve added all the insurances and upgrades it’s often cheaper to just not pick it up and book an inclusive car hire rate elsewhere with another provider .
May not be as true this year with the car hire price hikes but always worth checking out before booking.
Or of course Uber and save $28 a day in Disney parking charges

OP. The Million Dollar question! How much is that car and the Insurance costing you please?
I lay money you can get it cheaper by ditching it and getting a fully Insured car through Virgin.
