Proof of vaccination?

I was sure I’d seen that people are able to view their vaccination status on the NHS app, and that you could request access from your GP if it wasn’t showing up, but I think I’ve got in a muddle.

It wasn’t showing on mine (it just says 0 for medicines and acute medicines) so I asked my GP’s receptionists to enable it to show vaccines. I just received a reply saying:

Thank you for your enquiry, as far as we are aware you cannot see vaccines on the NHS app.

Is this right and I’ve misunderstood what other people have been saying about seeing their vaccine record on the app? If so, how can we show proof of vaccination for the staycation cruises? I have a little card, but I’d be surprised if that was accepted as it would be so easy to fake.

I’ve been trying to look back through posts to find where I saw it, but I can’t find it now. I know I’ve also seen something about the NHS app changing next week / month to become a vaccine passport, so maybe it’s just too early for it to show up yet?

Both our NHS apps show the full details of the vax. Type dates and strength etc.

View your GP record, Continue, Medicines, acute short term medicines. Haven't spoken to our GP about the app at all. It just populated automatically

Both mine and my husbands are showing on the app, I even see my childhood vaccinations.

If you can't find it you can ring 119 from Monday to get them to send you out a letter. They are asking people not to contact their GPs

Can you see anything from your GP, like consultations etc? If you can't see it, then they've not enabled it, and you'll need to speak to someone (but good luck getting anyone who knows what they're talking about!).

Mine shows in events and consultations, other people's seem to show elsewhere. I've read that potentially from the 17th May there will be a vaccinations bit added and everything should be clear, no idea if that's true or not. But again, if your GP hasn't enabled access, you won't be able to see this.

I can see mine on the ‘MyGP’ app but it’s not like the above just says ‘Administration of the first dose of SARS-COV-2 vaccine’ with the date against it

It’s actually 119 you need to ring. At least 5 days after your 2nd vaccine.
I am expecting the NHS app to have an update on the 17th.

Thank you, I advise people to ring 111 all the time at work so I think it just slipped into my brain, will amend my post

As I posted elsewhere - please don't phone your GP about this - they have plenty of better things to be doing right now:

It had been assumed it depended on getting GPs to share a patient's data with the app. I'd been on the phone to my GP surgery because neither of my two jabs was showing up in the app.

But this morning a Department of Health spokeswoman told me that NHS X - the health service digital division - has designed an update to the app which doesn't depend on GP records.

The update won't go live until May 17th and will provide a new tab displaying your vaccine record, the idea being that this is all you need to show rather than any other sensitive data being visible.

It seems likely the app will be updated next week with a new section showing vaccination status that sits outside what currently displays from GP-controlled data.
