I have driven from Tampa twice and took a different route the second time!

Always prefer Tampa.. 1. It always works out far cheaper for flights for us 2, We stay at Tampa for a few days to go to Busch Gardens.

Always used Avis BA Fly Drive (Avis Member) and always had my car within 5 mins of turning up. Had numerous free upgrades.

Drive to MCO never been stuck in traffic pick the quiet times, we also stop half way at the cracker barrel. On the way back from MCO to TPA we stop at Dinosaur World sometimes as well as Cracker Barrel.

Highly recommend flying to Tampa. Driving is a breeze just make sure to drive totally defensively and you should be fine.

We are usually through Tampa and on the road in an hour. Look at street view on google maps, write notes if you need them, so that you don't waste time waiting for satnav to find a signal. When you get out of the airport you drive straight onto the J. Bean highway and follow signs for I275 North, ignore the bit about Tampa. The signs will change to read I275 to I4 which tells you that you are on the right road.
Once you are on I275 you will be in rush hour traffic so expect 40mph until you get onto I4. The volume of traffic eases the further up the I4 you drive.

Deffo our preferred arrival airport as it will be next May... can't add to what everyone else had added... just seems to be a lot more easy entry? Normally within 40-60 mins we are in the car and away. As we are not arriving until early evening we will book a hotel for the night by the coast (probably Treasure Island) and have a nice evening with a meal/drink watching the sunset before making our way down the I4 the following day.
