I would generally buy the cheapest ticket for the show from lastminute.com and as I was a solo traveller I would get a ticket really close to try front when I collected the ticket from the box office.

We’re in London at the weekend and I’ve been checking for Hamilton returns. I’m not paying £200pp so I’ll try my luck with the lottery!
I would be comfortable going to the theatre alone too. I agree it would be a nice way to send the evening, much better than sitting in your room.

Good luck for Hamilton tickets this weekend, that would be a wonderful evening out. If you can’t get Hamilton tickets though, see if there are any other last minute seats available for something else. Lovely Xmas treat for yourself 😀

We also saw the Lion King (last minute tickets. Half price) and that was fabulous. I knew every word but that only enhances the experience.

Aladdin last year in nyc which I loved. It’s not the same as the movie so some familiar songs and some new ones but all excellent.

We saw Matilda in Sunderland which was very good. My younger daughters choice.

And I accompanied a school trip to Sunderland to see Shrek which I wasn’t that bothered about. It was ok but I wouldn’t rush back.
We love Lion King, I have seen it twice and enjoyed it as much the second time as the first 😀

I regret not going to a show on Broadway when we were in NYC but there were 5 of us as we had our son and his fiancée too and it would have been so expensive for 5. Maybe we should book another trip there 😀

Aladdin looks excellent, heard only good reviews. We are looking forward to Matilda at Xmas, DD’s favourite Roald Dahl book as a child so will be nice to see the show. We didn’t see Shrek, although it’s been to Cardiff twice at least. We just didn’t fancy it, love the films but felt the stage show may be a bit cheesy.

Plus I’m not too big on theatre cos of the money really. Cost us £100 for two tickets parking etc so not a cheap night out.
Would rather go Disney on ice for the same price.
It isn’t a cheap night out I agree, although we always go for the cheaper seats and find these have a good view etc. Not been to Disney on Ice, would like to though 😀

I did forget one theatre trip this year in my original post. We saw Early Doors in the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. Very funny stage version of the tv show with Craig Cash and most of the original tv cast. This was really funny and nostalgic as we went with our older son and his fiancée and we enjoyed watching the tv show when it was on with our older sons years ago.

We found that much dearer!

We are paying £22 for Company and £25 for Bat out of Hell. Never pay more than £50 for anything.

I did look at tickets for Disney on Ice this year in Cardiff and tickets were very expensive. Many tickets had gone by the time we looked so there were only the more expensive seats left.

We usually pay under £35 pp for the Wales Millennium Centre tickets for the biggest shows so around £100 for the 3 of us. These seats are up in the Gods but with a really clear view.

We only paid £18 pp to see Singing in the Rain in the New Theatre in Cardiff last week though so it can be quite a cheap night out. Much cheaper than a night out drinking in the city centre and far more enjoyable to us 😀

We used to do kids week, saw Saturday night Fever a long time ago, Grease, Lion king, wicked, The Bodygaurd, Mama Mia, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Jersey Boys, Thriller live, Joseph. This year we saw Aladdin by doing the lottery and got two tickets for £40 and then I bought a extra one for my son. it worked £100 for 3 of us which is really good. Last Week went to see The Nutcracker at a local theatre which I wasn’t that keen on, never liked Charlie and the Chocolate factory either. Favourites are Jersey Boys, Thriller Live and The Bodyguard. I like upbeat shows and get bored when they are a bit dreary. Try googling ticket lottery to get cut price shows and good seats, it took me 4 weeks entering to get Aladdin tickets x

My DD prefers the more upbeat ones. She jokingly says I only enjoy them if they make me cry 😀

We tend to go to the theatre a couple of times a month, usually to The Orchard in Dartford, but also go to Chatham, Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury. On the odd occasion we go into London.
We usually see comedians, musicals and drama.

Recently seen David O'Doherty, Jason Byrne, Ross Noble, The Case of the Frightened Lady and Be Bop A Lula.
Coming up in the next month or so we have Aladdin (panto), The House on Cold Hill and Benidorm.

Sounds as if you have a lot of choice in your area. We aren’t as lucky but there are quite a few venues in Cardiff of course which is around 40 minutes from home, and one or two smaller ones closer to us.

We are seeing Benidorm in Cardiff in February so possibly just after you, come back on here afterwards to let me know if you enjoyed it. My DH is really looking forward to that one. He loved Early Doors which we saw a couple of months ago, which was a tv comedy series turned into a stage play. It was really funny so expecting Benidorm to be similar 😀
