August 29th - which park?

Hi guys,

We are going 20th Aug to 3rd Sept and staying offsite. Not Star Wars fans at all so not exactly thrilled about SW opening on 29th but i'm sure we will have a great time nonetheless, its Florida after all!

We do know that at some point during the trip we want to go and do a night at Universal to get early admission/express passes.

Can anyone recommend or give us advice - should we go on 29th August to avoid opening day at HS (which ive read will be manic and overspill is likely to go into all the other parks) or will it be manic with people avoiding HS too?

I know nobody has a crystal ball but wondering if anyone can give any advice on whether we should go to Universal on the 29th or hit one of the Disney Parks?

What would everyone else do? Or of you are going then, what are your plans?

Thanks so much!

Thanks!

Hi, I know it’s anyone’s guess, but I think it sounds like a good idea to go to Universal Studios on 29th August. Most Americans will be back at work/school so I don’t think it will be super busy, but even if there is an overspill from Disney GE avoiders, early entry and Express Passes will counteract it. We’ll be onsite when GE opens and we’re sticking with a day at Typhoon Lagoon on 29th as we had already planned

Thanks D15ney72! Yes that's also a good idea - I hadn't thought about doing one of the Disney waterparks that day. We have been to TL and really liked it - was thinking of doing Blizzard Beach this time - is it any good do you know?

Yes, Blizzard Beach is fab too, if you enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon I’d definitely recommend it!

I love Typhoon Lagoon but I don't like Blizzard Beach. I love the theming and relaxing vibe of TL but don't like all the white paint at BB!

Yes, there’s definitely a lot of white paint! I think that’s what I like about BB, the theming is in complete contrast to Florida.

We're there same time. I'm pretty sad and look up historical wait times, take into account EMH/EEH and weekend/holiday impacts to plan, but Star Wars has screwed up the plans a tad.
For what it's worth, we're heading to MK that day - the night before it's EEH so I'm thinking any on-site guests will go then so won't bother the next day.
God knows if that logic will work - the reality is most likely that every park will be mega busy.

We are also there at that time - 19th to 3rd.
For the last 2 years that has also been the 1st day of EPCOT food & Wine festival, so I am eagerly awaiting the dates for that being released... I had planned EPCOT that day.
I'm also disappointed GE is opening when we are there - I had hoped to be able to use that as an excuse to head back next year when the chaos has died down!

Thanks for your replies guys! We have decided to do an overnighter in Universal HRH on the 29th so hopefully will avoid the crowds!

Going to do HS early on in our holiday now - hopefully before the crowds start building!

Thanks again!
