marriage in florida

Please can anyone tell me if you can get your licence from the courthouse and then arrange a later date and time to get married in the courthouse.i have read that you can get married straight away at the courthouse but would prefer to come back another day.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding 😀😀😀

I'm not sure how it works for a ceremony in the courthouse itself, but for our Clearwater wedding (2005) we had our ceremony date and time booked, and went to the Courthouse a couple of days before, where we were given our certificate. The marriage wasn't official until the notary who performed our ceremony had signed and stamped the certificate.

After that, we had a choice of either posting the certificate back to the courthouse for the final legal bit (and they would post it back to us in the uk), or we could do it in person back at the courthouse. We had a spare day, so that's what we did.
