no, you don't have to change anything really on the Esta once it's done. It's valid for 2 years from when you first applied unless you renew your passport. I left the details the same on mine for the 2 years.

You have no need to change the accommodation address on an ESTA - I guess at least 90% of Dibbers don't.
Your API informs the USA authorities of your first night's accommodation. Mick

No need to update the ESTA at all... your api will give all the information needed.

I'd recommend having paper copies of your ESTA to hand for travelling. KLM weren't going to let us board from Heathrow because they couldn't find my daughters ESTA and they blamed it on a not very user friendly search requirement based on destination address (ESTA had Tampa from previous year and we were flying to NY). Same thing happened at Schipol and we were split up with my husband and 3 of my children forced to board while my daughter and I were detained. The madness is that I did a single ESTA application for all 6 of us so why 1 couldn't be located is beyond me! I only wish I'd had a print of it as it would have saved a lot of time and worry.

The official ESTA website recommends that you print a copy.
Not for the purposes of proving it to US C&BP but it implies that your travel operator may ask to see it. We've never been asked in about 18 flights since they were introduced but we always do - why not for one more sheet of paper? Mick
