Really impressed Starling Bank

I have just tried to buy online 2 funspot wristbands and pay with my Revolut card. The card kept declining and when I goggled this is common with online payments with Revolut. So I tried to transfer money with my fairfx card but the minimum was £75 and I didn't want to transfer that amount just for 2 tickets. I have recently got a Starling Bank account so I transferred £50, the payment with funspot went through immediately and I got a rate for 1.3423 Got to say I'm impressed already

I love my starling card! Got it about a year ago and have used it all over the world and never had any problems at all!
Their customer service is fab too!

It’s one of the new (ish) mobile challenger banks, they’re much like Monzo and trying to change banking. E.G. No foreign exchange fees on purchases.

Not bad at all, although Halifax Clarity would have been marginally better at 1.3438 on 9th June (uses the Mastercard currency exchange rate).

I saw this account the other day on the Martin Lewis show. He recommended it so considering getting it. Is there any difference between a credit card and bank card while you are there?

Could be because your settings on your Revolut card is set to not allow on line payments. If you go into the app you can change those settings to allow payments to go through.

Hi, I didn't want to create a whole new thread for one quick question, but hopefully you can answer.

Do you get to see the conversion rate before completing the transaction? So you can work out how much GBP will be deducted before committing?

I have a Starling account but haven't really used it yet. Fully planning to use it for the whole trip instead of loading my FairFX card though. Sounds so much simpler.
