Underwater camera

Can anyone recommend a ‘budget’ but decent quality underwater camera please ?

Ideally to take videos too.

I’ve looked at Go Pro but they are too expensive for the use I’d get out of it - I’ll probably use it mainly on my Caribbean cruise, snorkelling etc.

I’ve used an old mobile inside a waterproof case before but the pics were dull & not really worthwhile.

Thanks.

If you're wanting a gopro style camera then plenty of dupes on Amazon- just search action camera. We have a dupe that does a fairly decent job. You can buy underwater housing for them which works just fine, used ours plenty of times in snorkeling and water parks.

If you want to take pics you're better off with a rugged Camera- we have the Olympics tough tg4. Usually use both when snorkeling so we just leave the action cam on film and take pics with the olympus

Anyone got one of these?

We have a DJI Osmo which I bought just before lockdown by the time we had chance to use it, it was out of warranty and it stopped working on our holiday. 😢

Can I find any computer store who can fix it? No. Not even a specialist DJI service centre which just seem to focus on the drones.

Anyway, I’m reluctant to pay almost £300 for another camera for the same thing to happen and the one pictured above is circa £100.

Reviews seem okay.

Does anyone have any of their own that they would recommend?

Thanks

I'm still using a 10 year old Panasonic FT-25 Waterproof camera, and I intend taking that again. I've looked at GoPros and you get a much better quality video with them, but I would only use it once or twice every couple of years so I'm sticking with what I've got

I’ve ordered the above and taken out a 3 year warranty for £8 against accidental damage. Got £25 off.
£88 with the extra warranty.

I’ll update as to how well it works. Though won’t be using it until summer.
