My middle child became obsessed with bird watching at 7 (he's now a wildlife biologist) and for us every trip to central Florida included a stop at Merritt Island. They do tours both self guided and ranger led.

I would check out both National Parks and Wildlife Refuges.

fws.gov/refuges/refugelo...s/florida.html

My son has also been very involved in the Audubon locally but I am sure the Florida Chapters offer tours.

ETA: There are quite a few birds roaming Disney-herons, ibises and egrets are some we usually see. I used to tell my son he should do an identification booklet so others would know what they were looking at.

Edited at 12:54 PM.

You see loads of herons, egrets, ospreys, eagles and snail kites on the airboat ride with Spirit of the Swamp

Also, Gatorland do a specific bird watching ticket, loads of egrets, herons, storks and vultures there.
