Things to do around Daytona Beach

Looking for things to do within an hour (I realised that in that time we could almost be back in Orlando... so something away from Orlando preferred)

Already thought about St Augustine and have been to Kennedy Space Center

Love state parks and costal resorts

Daytona beach - Ponce De Leon has a lighthouse and museum, some nice walks, went there a few years ago.

Not much in Daytona except the race track. There is a cheesy fun park on the beach (think typical UK seaside attractions).

You can drive your car on the beach if you want! - That was different.

The state park near Daytona is the Tomoka State Park. You can visit it by driving the "Loop" which is a scenic drive around the Halifax river and the forests and swamps behind Ormond Beach.

There are several coastal towns away from Daytona itself. The best are Flagler Beach, New Smyrna Beach and St. Augustine.

The Casements at Ormond Beach is the old winter home of John Rockefeller who was the richest man in the world.

Beach Street in Daytona is a pleasant area for boutiques and also is the home of the Daytona museum where you can learn about the early settlers and Indian wars.

Daytona and Ormond have all of the chain restaurants you will find in Orlando as well as several "one offs".

As a university town it is home to all sporting activities including an ice rink.

This month Daytona is home to Biketoberfest which even if you are not a biker is an event not to be missed.
