ESTA, US clarifies given name requirement

Oh no I have done 3 out of 4 in November and missed my middle name off. The others don’t have middle names! Now I’m gonna have to redo mine. That’s annoying.

I have to say that it would be procedurally odd for them to suggest that existing ESTAs, that have been duly approved months ago, ought to be redone due to an administrative update taking place months later. It's akin to revoking these ESTAs, without informing the relevant people, unless they happen to read a post on the dibb and get in touch with them?!

But they don’t check validity there and then. If you answer yes to a question or your name is on a watch list, or you are a resident of a country where Estas are not acceptable you’ll get a” Computer says no”. However if you arrive and the information you have given does not tally with the information on Passport who knows what happens.

Where does it say Oct though everyone keeps mentioning that month? I haven’t had a response yet but I’m even considering re doing mine... arghhh ESTAS!

October has been mentioned by other people, and seems to have come from Facebook originally, but I can't find official confirmation of the exact date. Changes have been made recently, we know that, but just not exactly when.

I know! Tbh, I'd be surprised if anyone got turned away for not having their middle name included, but at the same time I know it would stress me out the closer I got to travel day. I'm just pleased I saw this before renewing mine and I'm going to upload our passports this time to hopefully avoid any mistakes.

I would be suprised too but I would be stressed aswell just not worth it! I’m really cross as I was doing them today but as I hate them so much last night I thought just get them done! If I had stuck to the original plan I would have seen all this on the Dibb

I’ve just done 6 ESTA applications last week.

4 of us have middle names and I haven’t included these. The ESTAs have been approved.

Will I still need to redo?
