I’d be surprised if your computer doesn’t have Wi-fi unless it’s super old?

The router doesn’t have to be plugged into it, I’d move the router down to your phone line, you’d usually get a stronger / faster Wi-fi signal anyway if it’s right next to your master phone socket.

If the Wi-fi signal isn’t very strong in your study where your computer is then you can always get a Wi-fi booster.

You could use a powerline plug and create an ethernet connection that way.

Thank you all and sorry for delayed response, had someone drop in for coffee!

Perhaps my husband is a secret hardcore gamer 🤔😁

I’m pretty sure we have WiFi on the main computer so I’m going to unplug it... !

A surprising number of desktop computers don't have wifi but a trailing wire as well as looking awful is a trip hazard.
Unless it's a really old Sky box it will be wifi enabled so doesn't need to be plugged into the router though .
If the PC doesn't have wifi you can have a wireless card fitted or a cheaper option is a wifi adaptor (plugs into a USB port on the back of your tower or as Barry says use a power line (also known as homeplugs) which is a neat and cheap solution (search from them on Amazon , they come in pairs one plugs into the Ethernet port on your hub and and electric socket and the other plugs into your PC and an electrical socket in that room and uses your electrical house wiring as the "cable" between.
