Pop up ads on tablet

I've always had Samsung tablets and have just upgraded to a Galaxy 5e get more space.

I am getting annoying pop up ads all the time. They last anything from 5 to 30 seconds. They can come in the middle of using my browser, playing candy crush or looking at instagram and other apps. I had previously heard of pop up ads, but I thought they only popped up on your browser, not other apps.

I think I can date this back to starting to follow a popular cleaning lady on Instagram. The other people I follow are just friends and family, so not ad-worthy. I've stopped following the cleaner, it was boring anyway, but I still get the ads.

Anyone know of any software I can download to stop it?

I use adguard pro on my ipads, works well

Do the ads pop up in certain apps or all the time? For example, do you see them if you use the BBC News app (which has no advertising under normal circumstances)?

Not the BBC for sure. I'll need to make a note of the other apps and see the pattern.

It could just be that the apps you are using have ads in them and they are using the "pop up" version that requires you to close them to proceed. If that's the case there's not much you can do (aside from pay for a version that doesn't have the ads (or removes them) if it's available).
