New puppy hates going for walks
As I said my 13 week old German Shepard hates going for walks. We take lots of treats with us but just hates going out. Anyone else had this problem?

No, but the best thing you can do for any puppy is to take them to training classes.
My dog (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) is 4.5 years old now but has gone to training classes since he was old enough to go out (11 weeks old after jabs). When we turned up for that first puppy class, he wouldn’t walk on the lead, and hour later totally sorted 😊

Yes we had this with our first husky pup, she didn't like going for walks and she was also doing puppy classes.
The best advice we got was just to sit with them if they stop, let them get use to the world and do small steps with them. Some days we would do 1 extra step but it built up her confidence. If you know anyone who you could walk with may help too. |

We had forgotten what is was like to have a puppy, and in the early days, expected far too much from her.
My obedience trainer said the we were over exercising her which is why she went hyper-active when we got home ... it was over tiredness. The rule which we then stuck by was for every month old, it was 5 minutes walking time. This only changed when she was a year old when we could then go for longer walks. Hope your fur baby starts enjoying the outside world soon.

How far are you walking? Should be about 5 mins at that age so a quick round the block. The world is very scary when you first go out so just do baby steps.

Every puppy we have had has hated walking at first. It’s all very loud and scary out there especially if there is traffic.
Don’t expect too much. Go out at quiet times of the day and just start with 5 mins with plenty of positive voice commands. Please post pictures 🥰 |

Walks should be no longer than 15 mins at that age twice a day anyway to protect their joints.
Why don’t you carry them to get them used to the world first.
