I’m confused. Thomas cook wouldn’t have booked adrs? You’d have had to know your plan on what you wanted?

It was just TC flights, agency offered planning which I was taking advantage of. As I said I am now in a panic as I need to try and book them. This is our once ever holiday, in Jeopardy due to the TC debacle. Still don’t know if we’re going but planning as if we are. I would just really appreciate some ideas on Disney musts.

OP booked through the same specialist travel agent I used callsed My Magic Holiday and part of their amazing free service was holiday planning such as ADRs and Fastpass bookings (you did have to give them access to MDE for them to do it).

They signed up to the Freedom Travel Group consortium which allowed them to ATOL protect all their bespoke packages and Freedom were part of TC. The travel agent are still trading and have now sorted out new abta/atol but are giving all their time to sorting out the existing bookings and have cancelled all their planning services which is why OP is now in this situation.

Sarahcop firstly try not panic or worry. I know mmh was going to help you but we can try and offer as much help/advice as we can xx

It will ask you for a credit card, I used my FairFx card, regardless if you are on the dining plan or not. This is just so they have a means to charge you if you don't cancel in time or just don't turn up.

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/Adv...ADR--p-74.html

Characters meals are a must for us as my boys (17 & 10) still love meeting the characters. The dibb guide and wdw itself will have lists of all the restaurants with characters etc so it's a case of deciding who you want to meet.
For example
Chef Mickey has the fab 5 (Mickey.minnie.donald.pluto & goofy).
Ohana breakfast has Lilo, stitch
Cinderella royal table has the princesses.

You should be able to find which characters are at which restaurant...if not shout out and we can get them for you x

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/Dis...nts-c-115.html

There are tons of restaurants that don't have characters if you'd prefer that. It really is a case of reading menus etc etc to see what takes your fancy.

I've listed the one we ate at last year in case that helps x

Chef Mickey Breakfast (1st day tradition)
Garden Grill Epcot (character dinner)
Liberty Tree Tavern Magic Kingdom (non character just great food..fav meal of holiday)
Tusker House, Animal Kingdom (character breakfast)
Ohana, Polynesian Resort (character breakfast)
Sci fi Diner, Hollywood Studios (no characters, do get to sit in a car like at a drive in..very cool)
1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian Resort (Alice, Mad Hatter, tigger, Mary poppins)

There's a lot to think about, and it can seem overwhelming but it will soon fall into place xx

Good luck xx

Hopefully the links work x

My four favourite restaurants of the trip I've just been on were:

Spice Road Table in Epcot
Jungle Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom
Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom
Nine Dragons in Epcot

All delicious meals with excellent service.

I would agree with others - it’s easy to get overwhelmed and I think last time, I found the table service meals could become a bit restrictive to what we wanted when we were there, so I cancelled a couple and rejigged them, which was remarkably stress free.

We really enjoyed Garden Grill (Epcot) breakfast; Teppan Edo (also Epcot) dinner (my now 12 year old still recalls this as a highlight); Cape May (we did dinner and breakfast, both were good, but I think we overdid the character breakfasts - we did Tusker House, Garden Grill, Cape May, Ohana, Crystal Palace, Akershus! ) and 1900 Park Fare for dinner. Both the Cape May and Park Fare dinners were much better than I expected - both buffets but with plenty of variety and good quality.

ETA in hindsight (and in planning for next year); I'll plan for better use of the QS places, particularly as we're going to be on site for 6 days, not 14. We'll do lunch BOG (we did breakfast and it was only OK); Chinese QS at Epcot; Blaze at Disney Springs

My 'must do's' next time, so far, are: Chefs de France; Ohana (dinner) - we will keep a character breakfast and I think it'll either be Cape May or Garden Grill.

I think it depends on who is in your party. Is it just adults, or are you taking children and what ages are they? Our trip last year was for me and my 18 year old daughter but we love Disney and ate at a couple of character meals which we really enjoyed even though we were adults.

We ate at:
Trattoria al Forno Bon Voyage breakfast on Boardwalk which is an excellent character breakfast with Ariel and Prince Eric, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. Food was plentiful and delicious here.

Planet Hollywood in Disney Springs, which has film memorabilia and is a typical burger place. This has mixed reviews and some love it, some hate it. We enjoyed it but found it noisy

Coral Reef in Epcot. Here there are large windows looking into a fabulous fish tank. It’s brilliant for anyone who loves wildlife and we felt the food here was definitely one of our favourites

Yak and Yeti in Animal Kingdom. Asian style of food which is very popular with Dibbers. We weren’t so keen as we felt the food was average and the service very slow

50’s Prime Time Diner in Hollywood Studios. This is a fun meal in a 50’s diner where the servers are your cousins. We ate here at my daughter’s request for her birthday and it was brilliant. Excellent service, the server made such a fuss for DD’s birthday and the food was delicious

Chefs de France Epcot. This was my birthday treat meal. Excellent service, felt a bit more upmarket, food was my favourite of the trip, great range of cocktails

Mama Melrose Fantasmic package. This gives you priority seating at Fantasmic show but MUST be booked as a package but is still included in your dining plan. We found the food disappointing especially the dessert which was a 3 dessert sampler. It was worth it for the seating at the show though but another time we would try one of the other 2 restaurants available on the package

1900 Park Fare dinner with Cinderella and her stepsisters etc This is a buffet meal in the Grand Floridian Hotel. Food is usual buffet variety but the character interaction here is very funny for both adults and children

STK Disney Springs this is a 2 table service credit meal so it’s quite upmarket and very adult theming. Outstanding steaks there, excellent cocktails and great for a special non Disney style meal. However the sides are not included in the dining plan.

Biergarten in Epcot. This is communal dining so you share your table with others. It’s a German buffet which we enjoyed. Again it gets mixed reviews so it doesn’t suit everyone

Our favourite quick service meal was Flame Tree bbq in Animal Kingdom, delicious meals in a nice setting.

Hope these reviews help. We found reading food reports on here a great help, also reviews on Disney Food Blog website as they are very thorough. Hope you enjoy your trip and planning.

I have never heard of a travel agent booking ADRs before, they would need access to your MDE account for that, not sure I would want to hand that over.

Anyway there is nothing to panic about, it is very straightforward to book ADRs. I personally do not believe there is any such thing as a "must" we are all different and one person's musts will be different to the next persons.

I have just finished my trip dining report this morning, I observed that of the 16 ADRs I had booked when I left the UK, I only attended six of them and only two of them on the day I had them booked for. So I don't think there is any need to over think this as plans can be easily changed or made whilst you are there.

Usually when I start to plan, I pick out one or two character meals, a couple of pre park opening breakfast times (in order to get onto rides without fast passes) and probably two or three signature restaurants. I sometimes go back to places, but more usually I like to try places that I have not yet been to.

Next trip, because I changed plans so much this time, I have decided to be more spontaneous and only book things that I know are hard to get. So I will book pre-park opening time breakfasts at Be Our Guest and Garden Grill in Epcot, the California Grill brunch, Beaches & Cream, possibly dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table and also possibly Storybook Dining.

I was similar to Claudette and on the evening of my first full day cancelled all but one of my remaining ADRs (I'd had lunch at Spice Road Table in Epcot that day). I then booked either the night before or simply walked up and asked if there was availability when I felt hungry. Having a Landry's card was great. I walked into Yak and Yeti in AK, showed them my card, said I'd like a table for one and five minutes later they found me a table! The lobby was packed so the card definitely talked.
