just home highs & Lows
Hi ...
Just home from an amazing 8 nights ,myself, daughter & 14 yr old grand daughter..Here are my highs and lows: Highs... Premier Inn Gatwick north Great as always, really clean ,nice breakfast, good wifi and good value for money Virgin Atlantic: Great both ways ,we had the usual extra legroom seats, cabin crew were lovely food was lovely, entertainment system great no complaints at all.. Resort Hotel We really splurged this year to stay at the Grand Floridian, we were secretly worried that we may feel "out of place"or may arrive there and it may simply not live up to our expectations but no ,it was absolutely AMAZING ,it is now our new favorite resort although having stayed at the Beach Club for £1,000 per week less i dont think the Grand Floridian is worth "that" much more so would probably never pay it again! ,still it is off my bucket list! Skyliners Really cool.we rode them a few times, i would hate to be stuck in one though! Parks Parks were great ,funnily enough Hollywood Studios was our favorite park this year! Magical express This was great this year ,didnt have to wait long and driver was great and helpul both ways Lows: Lady on flight going out reclined her seat back the minute we departed for the whole 9 hours! Ohana was a real let down this year like some others have said it was rushed and the steak was awful..i acually gave this another chance from last year but now alas no more, Ohana has now been taken of my list of must dos Girl being violently sick from alcohol in the toilets in Epcot! Prices in Disney are just crazy, without the dining plan we would be broke!, suggested tipping amounts is also crazy! and last for us was the amount of Halloween parties,it was crazy! we could only have 2 nights in Magic Kingdom out of 8,even after paying all that money to stay in their flag ship resort! my summary would be that i had an amazing 8 nights overall and i love Disney but each year i return i feel more annoyed with their greed!,but still i envy anyone who is going soon! |

Welcome home, we have only managed one night in a Grand Floridian, when DS was a canst member so he got discount and paid for us as a treat. Lovely resort.

We stayed at the Grand Floridian for a week September of last year. Like you we found it very expensive for what it is. We stayed there as one of my best friends was staying there for her 60th and we surprised her. We usually stay at The Yacht Club and I much prefer that hotel over the GF. In fact the only thing about the GF that I preferred was the fact that the coffee shop is open 24hours.

Hollywood Studios was our favourite park this year, especially at night with a great atmosphere.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We love HS too, especially now Toy Story Land is included.
GF would be my dream resort too, but I don’t think it’s ever going to be likely 😀 I agree that without free dining Disney resorts wouldn’t be worth the expense. Has the suggested tipping gone up since last year? It was 18-20% which I think is very expensive especially for a family with a few children. There were just two of us and we had the $200 gift card which covered the tips so it was fine, but over 20% is a huge addition to the cost of a meal. |

We have a 1 night stay at GF added onto our BC booking for next year; we've always said we like to visit GF, and to eat there, but have never wanted to stay however Disney have gifted us a 1 night stay after a (slight) problem this trip so we're looking forward to trying it - especially for free. .

I could have written your last sentence myself about how I feel more and more at the end of each trip. Glad you enjoyed the GF given the big spend. Always worth it if you enjoyed the splurge.

OP. A lovely report, well done. So many highs and it sounds like you really enjoyed yourselves.
So many people are now commenting on the Parties being a nuisance and also the food quality/cost. Quite sad really that Disney is quite happy to charge big bucks for extra events then fails to deliver a decent quality regarding food. Pure greed. But notwithstanding those issues I suspect they were far outweighed y the good times.
