Totally understand why you feel the way you do. I love holidays but with having two ‘big’ holidays to Florida cancelled and having to wait until next summer until we can go, it’s hard to be excited at all as I don’t believe we’ll get there. Plus all the teen vaccination (lack of) and therefore extra testing they need. It’s a wonder anyone wants to book anything.

Mary Poppins - you're still fine posting here. We haven't been to a WDW park since 2010 but still regularly post on the Disney Information Bulletin Board.

Me too you are not alone .
Having had 2 Florida 2 cruises 2 Maine and a lapland trip cancelled I've lost my excitement too.
We are going on a canaries cruise in just under 3 weeks , weve done the API and ordered the covid tests but we need a PLF for the trip and hotel/airport parking but I've no interest in looking for that.
Our Florida trip is rebooked for May and I'm getting the black Friday discovery cove tickets today but I feel if it's all cancelled again then I wouldn't care. This is not like me at all, I live to travel so it's quite unsettling.

We have similar feelings.

In respect of travel abroad, we have no desire to go jump through hoops to get on holiday. For us, the pre-travel, during travel, pre- return, return, requirements are just not what we want.

Pre-pandemic, we got a buzz from planning, and a massive buzz from travelling which of late would have been Upper or Club. If we had a hotel it was concierge, with a fill yer boots lounge to enjoy.

Now that buzz has been totally replaced by anxiety and stress. For the next year, or further depending on how fast things return to “normal”, we will holiday in the UK. Edinburgh is on the immediate list, which will be a return to the place we love.

The deterioration in my Mothers health and well being, for whom we care is another nail in our enjoyment coffin. Sad but true.

MP, both you and I have nothing to apologise for. We have a lot to offer people who want advice and tips, having seen and experienced things they have yet to discover. There is no reason to feel inferior, or that you are a fraud or uninvited guest.

I will keep dibbing, with my head held high, and that also goes for you Marypoppins38…….

Take care all

We said what a palaver for a 45 minute flight to Paris, DH said the fuss was disproportionate to the travel time. On the other hand, to France (and I think many other places in Europe?) there is no pre travel testing, which would be an extra layer of complexity and related anxiety.

Anyway as mentioned above, I think for me, the short trip has been a good practice run, especially as I ended up coming home by myself too.

It’s not just you MP, we have all been through the mill with this pandemic its not surprising we are all wanting to stay home more! We just cancelled our Florida trip next year, as we didn’t want to leave our new pup for nearly three weeks.

Disney332 am sorry to hear about your mum 💜

Don’t disappear off the Dibb Marypoppins! Would miss you.

Don’t worry MP. People have gone 1 of 2 ways - travel more, travel less.

I think once you’ve done it once, you might feel differently. But if you don’t feel like it now, don’t do it. I nearly cancelled Paris 4x because I did not want to test abroad - that’s the sticking point for me. Luckily this was removed so I bought travel insurance and put my big girl pants on. Now I’m more confident about doing it myself and planning so many holidays - like normal for me.

My sister is planning the whole world I think which is more than she’s ever thought about and they feel like most of us they’ve lost two years.

A friend of mine have no intentions of renewing their passports (personally I would for ID purposes regardless of travel!) and I have friends who have never had a passport and don’t intend to get one.

Take things at your pace, as long as you plan other things you enjoy, that’s all that matters!

I hear you MP

I have a trip planned to CA over th holidays and, at the moment, am not one bit excited about it. Neutral at best. I am really going as I hate the fiasco Christmas has come to in the UK and its a means to escape the falls mess of “one day” plus to catch up with friends I have not seen for too long . My family and friends are flying all over the place - most weekends my sister is away somewhere on a flight and little old retired me with all the time on my hands and resources available to me stays put - happily. I had an amazing time in Orkney and would go back there tomorrow but going to New York leaves me cold - no interest. I am researching my personal back story at the moment which is time consuming, fun and first time I have written a biography so that takes my time - I will go to CA as booked but at the moment thinking of cancelling my Feb trip to Dubai as have no real desire to travel (I can hardly believe I am typing that but its true)

I feel exactly the same I have no enthusiam for travelling abroad in fact it really makes me feel very anxious thinking about it The testing doesn't help

I've travelled a lot and always loved the planning and lead up to holidays but now it's taking all my strength to think about going up to my beloved Edinburgh at New Year, it's all booked and hopefully I will get there
