I'm in the same boat. It's just me, my boyfriend and my Dad. Started a new job 3 weeks ago so haven't really made friends there yet either.

I feel very lonely at times. I have a husband and a good (small) family, no kids yet. But no real friends who I can meet up with for a coffee or ring for a chat.
I have friends from uni who are really good friends but they’re not in the area, they’re all over the country so we keep in touch as best we can. But it’s not the same as being able to meet up at the weekend or just have someone to hang out with. My husband has friends who we see a lot but they’re not “my” friends if you see what I mean. I do feel very lonely. I have a good friend at work who I obviously see every day there but it’s not the same either. Not sure if it’s just the way things are. But yes I do really miss having a good friend or group I can speak to and see, it’s very hard. |

You don’t need to pick up a phone just log on the Dibb !
I don’t make friends easily either. That is why I love the Dibb ! There is always someone on here day or night. My family has always been all important to me. Without sounding soppy my mum was my best friend and I have lost her to dementia. I do like cyber friends. I find it so much easier than real life ! |

OP. What are your interests? Why don’t you take a deep breath and join a club of some sort. Might be great for you if you give it a go x

Getting Excited
|
I know how you feel. I was only thinking the same today when out, seeing people having coffee together and felt quite down. I have a really good friend but she has moved away and a couple of people from work I see now and again but no one to chat with day to day. I am very happy with my husband but he works still and my son has moced away. Would love to chat - pls feel free to pm. You are not alone.

I am the same really, I have my other half, my mum, my two brothers and a childhood friend. I live with my other half, my mum I see on a regular basis, but one of my brothers lives down south and the other in a different town and my friend lives in another town and we only see each other about once or twice a year.
I have had friendship groups in the past, but I’ve always ended up the subject of the joke and it’s always ended with me feeling put down and eventually having to walk away when it couldn’t be resolved. I do get on well with the people who I work with, but I do think I’ve always been of those people that most people generally like, but don’t see me as “friendship material”. I don’t know, there’s just something about me, it doesn’t help I guess that I don’t really reach out to people either, partly because of past experience and partly because I’m autistic. Sometimes I get lonely when I hear about people talking about what they’ve done with friends and when I remember my earlier high school days when I had great fun with my friends, but then I think of the bad times I had with friends and I go back to being happy the way I am. My other half is my best friend anyway and I’m happy the way I am, I just have a moment every now and then. |
