Disney Parks fast pass morning or afternoon?

I know you can book you fast passes in again, after you’ve used the initial ones, but we’re debating as to whether to book in the fast passes for the afternoon, due to the parks potentially being a little quieter in the mornings. Are they quieter in the mornings?

The logic is that we would queue in the potentially smaller queues in the morning.

What’s the thoughts from those with experience of visiting the parks?

This will be my first time, and we’re taking a 7 &5 year old.

Thanks

We book ours for around 11.00-13.00 for the busiest rides and then get there for rope drop and use the first 2 hours to get on as many rides with smaller queues. Then leave about 14.00 and go for swim.

We do two parks a day, taking a big midday break, so we make them for morning or evening.

We book them from mid-morning so we can grab additional FP after we’ve used them but we don’t tend to do all day in a park.

I usually book from 10, but use later in the hour slot. Like you say there are some rides/attractions with small queues first thing in the morning, but by 10 the queues have already started to build and fastpasses are worth having. Also, means we're done by just after 12 if we want to be and can leave for a break or have lunch without having to worry about missing a fast pass slot.

I usually find that 10-10:30 is when queues are starting to build especially towards the front of the parks or the most popular rides. We tend to ride the rides in the first hour that we wouldn’t queue long for or will have massive queues later that we haven’t FP’d. We can then enjoy the day riding some of the smaller rides in between FP’s. We usually book the first one between 10 and 10:30 to then get an opportunity for more after the three have been used.

The parks are significantly quieter in the first hour compared to the rest of the day. Rope drop is great as long as you are used to getting up early. I tend to find the first few days are easy to rope drop due to time difference and adrenaline of being there. After that the amount of walking catches up and the rope drop idea tends to be left behind for the comfort of bed

Morning (usually) for us, as we travel in July/August school holidays, so more chance of a thunderstorm with potential impact on rides later in the day, so worth keeping that in mind as well as other points noted above.

We also 'tap and grab' once we start to use them
