Yosemite walks planning help

Hi, we will be visiting Yosemite for the first time this summer and would be grateful for some help.

Can anyone recommend any easy family walks we could do? We will be there for 3 full days and when we arrive in the Valley floor we will go to tunnel view then do the walk to Bridal View falls.

Also has anyone been on the star gazing tour? Wondered if it was worth doing.

Thanks

We visited last year and did the Valley Floor Tour as soon as we got there and it gave us a really good overview of the park. You are probably best to have a good chat with the rangers and staff in the hotels, they recommended some really good walks to us and they based them around our abilities.

Another vote for valley floor tour. Hi what age group. Where are you traveling to and from. Make sure you visit glacier point, tunnel view, tioga pass, bottom of El capitan. Would also suggest the films free solo and the dawn wall about climbing el capitan as this will give you a whole new meaning to the place.

What a brilliant suggestion I'd not thought to ask the Rangers there. Will make sure we visit the visitors centre for some help, thank you.

Funnily enough we watched free solo at the weekend, wow. We're coming from Bishop, just wanting some gentle walks nothing too strenuous or long. Kids are 11, 14 & 17. We thought we could go to tunnel view first after we've entered the valley.

The walks to Taft Point and Sentinel Dome are fairly flat and not too long with amazing views.

From Sentinel Dome you can see the whole valley and get a great 360 degree view of the park. Taft Point is a bit scary, might not be the best place for children as there is only a very small rail but there are great views of El Capitan from above.

They can be reached from the same trailhead on the way to Glacier Point.

Hi again with the age of the party we would suggest on one of the days you walk up to the vernal falls, most of the way there is a good path. The last section is slightly steeper but not to stenious, when up at the falls come down via the john Muir trail back to the car park. Just note that you are at 4000 ft valley floor and will walk up to about 5500 so you will feel it slightl, it is recommended that you should have about a litre of water each with you as you get dehydrated quicker.

Your journey into the park via Tioga pass is stunning and gives some great views of half dome from another side.
Ps make sure you take binoculars with you. If you need to buy some they can be got at a reasonable price.
Would again urge the first thing you do is the valley floor tour. This gives an overview which let's you get your bearings and a little history in an easy way.2 hours.

Sentinel is not too hard nut does give a real sense of achievement little ones will love it.

Taft point I think we walked to from the same car park dead flat but you need to have children that will do what they are told I would take my DD at 9 I would nota have taken her at say 6.

You have to remember you are high here and you get tired far quicker than you do at home.

Thanks for your suggestions, I've looked at Taft Point and to be honest I think it's too scary for me. We might try the Sentinel Dome walk though, the views look amazing.
