What time is bed time for younger teens?

I do find it difficult being a gran and a mum! I have lost touch with young people.

So what time is a good bed time for 14 year olds?

At that age my children were good sleepers and never had a problem getting up for school or at weekends so I tended to let them decide when it was bedtime.

Mine too. Although if I thought they were tired I would encourage them on their way.

My son is 14. He heads to his room between 9 and 9.30 and reads for an hour. He likes to be in school super early (avoids the busy buses) so his alarm is set for 6.20am and he leaves the house at 7.10am.
At weekends he goes to bed a bit later, but only an hour or so.
I think he’s in the minority though, seems many of his friends are up half the night, even on a school night!

My 13yo goes up between 9 and half past, she generally reads or listens to some radio comedy for a bit, seems to work. I'm becoming more relaxed with her, I'll say it's 9, she'll say I think I'll stay up for 20 minutes and that's fine, I'm not ordering her to bed anymore, but I'm lucky that she's quite mature and making good decisions most of the time.
I do ask her to be off her phone by 8, she struggles with sleep some nights anyway and I don't think screens close to bedtime help. We do allow her phone in her room so she can listen to radio, and again she seems to be responsible with it, can't see me allowing her younger brother the same!

Mine at 14 stayed up till 11pm but dd used to be up about till 12 and we used to shout to get her into bed. At weekends they all stayed up late, we used to go to bed and leave them to it!

At 14 I was out three nights a week until 9:00 doing a job in the supermarket so I'd hate to have been going to bed at 9:30

(I'm not even sure supermarkets will even take on 14 year olds anymore)

At 14 10pm. My now 16 year old goes at 11pm (when my 18 year old was at home was in in bed at 10/10.30.

We have a program on the wifi that blockers all my 16 year olds technology (Xbox, phone, iPad) from 11pm-7am. He would be up later if we let him!
