And that's the problem most of us Brits have. The Americans refuse to put up with it while we do and believe me when I say the servers are well aware of this . I know until recently we would done exactly the same.
However if a item is not right with us now whether it be a drink or a meal it gets send straight back and you will be amazed the response you get. Last time we did it(at Applebees for a steak cooked incorrectly) our server was full of apologies and had the manager at our table within a minute doing the same and she checked back later to make sure the replacement steak was cooked to my DWs liking, plus she reduced the bill for the inconvenience.
So I would not write off Cheesecake Factory just yet but as I said earlier if you get bad service 'When in Rome..'

Well, I made a review on Trip Advisor and they got intouch asking me to contact them directly, so I did, then a week later they got back to me asking for some details.

TBH I didn't send this to them until Sunday evening just gone but by Tuesday I received a $30 gift card (non-expiring) so worth our little moan in the end

Good to hear and delighted for you. I cannot stress enough how important it is to challenge bad service. On the whole I tend to find both here and in the States we Brits tend to accept poor service too readily, however if we do confront poor service results happen.
To give an example we went out for a family meal last Saturday to celebrate my DW's birthday. We had booked the table for 8pm. We were eventually seated at 8.45!. We had to wait 20 minutes for them to take our order, a further 40 minutes for the starters to arrive and eventually got our main course at 10.15!
I had already received one apology from the owner for the lateness of the seating and despite being a very laid back person I sought him out again before the mains arrived to complain again about the lack of food/service.Two other parties were having the same issues yet said nothing to the staff and complained amongst themselves
The result? The man was full of apologies and gave us everything free of charge!
So please folks it might be against our nature but challenge bad service when we see it

Totally agree, we had, had a particularly long and busy day and were just not in the mood to complain at the time, but normally we do and especially Stateside you do get sorted out.
