I think it’s disgusting the government have told him no.
Surely now more than ever we need to make sure these children have at least one decent meal, it breaks my heart . Don’t do what I did and read the absolutely abhorrent comments on the daily mail article .. just shows the type of demographic that read this foul rag . -I only read it as it was sent to me ,did not do this by choice ! 😆 |

It’s good to see highly paid footballers (or celebrities) that use their fame to raise awareness of issues and to be also contributing towards these issues. Marcus Rashford’s mother should be truly proud of her son for both his talent and his humility. It’s nice to see he hasn’t forgotten his background and how life is for others less fortunate, and that he wants to make a difference
I’m very pleased to hear the Welsh and Scottish governments are continuing to provide help towards children’s meals throughout the summer and I hope the English children will receive the same. It’s harder then usual now for families to access help with food banks due to lockdown and many are not getting any extra help. There are far more families struggling with reduced wages through furlough, waiting for payments of Universal Credit, redundancies etc so the extra benefits towards food are necessary. |

It’s rare I’ve anything nice/positive to say about a football player. However in this case he is so genuine and humble about his upbringing and has a real desire to not see a child go hungry.
The government have made a grave mistake on this one. Children (some) always go hungry during school holidays and this year it will be an even bigger problem. This isn’t a ‘don’t have them if you can’t afford them’ debate. It’s about what’s right for children.

I think the govt should use MPs expenses to pay for this, as they wont have had all their expensive travel, hospitality expenses to have been paid for last few months!

Excellent news.
I hope that the children in Northern Ireland will also benefit from a change of policy by Stormont. Amazing that the voice of one young person can galvanise a movement and force Social change. |

A good result, but a shame that it is needed at all.
