Yes the Longueville is lovely. If you don't stay there then I'd still recommend a visit for a lovely lunch.

I’ve lived here in Jersey all my life and love it. It seems that the older I get, the more I appreciate what I have here on my doorstep.

Give me an idea of what you’d like to do/see and I’ll give you some recommendations around that.

What time of the year are you planning on coming over?

Wow how lucky are you living in Jersey !
We are looking at the first week in August as daughter is going to France for 8 days.
We have always done apartment/villa holidays so really are looking at a hotel for a change. We are interested in the war museums, maybe a trip to France, nice food. We are after just relaxing really, need to have a pool and would like the area to be walkable for attractions and restaurants. We would hire a car if beneficial for a day or so.
I have been looking at the Radisson Blu, would that be a good choice do you think ?

Thank you so much for your help.

My sister lives in jersey and so we go a couple of times a year. Beautiful place. St Brelades bay is a fantastic beach. Plenty to do there. Lovely shopping in St Helier. Good all rounder.

Also not sure when it is but battle of flowers is fantastic and I’m pretty sure that’s in August. You will need to book seats and I would highly recommend the evening parade. Just looked it up it’s Thursday 13th Aug and Friday 14th Enjoyed this so much more the. I thought I would. They are amazing floats. Can’t find the photos sorry

Thank you. What a shame the battle of flowers is just after our dates. It would be just the kind of thing we would love too.

Yup, unfortunately you’ll miss the battle, it’s a shame really as it’s the only event we have like that and the island goes battle mad for the whole week.

The Radisson is nice, I was actually there last night for a few drinks. Personally I’d say it’s got the best mix of price v quality, and a pool. Although there are many other hotels much closer to the town center, many of them don’t have pools.

You’ll certainly be best off hiring a car, despite us only being 9 miles by 5 miles, a car will be much better than our bus system...nothing wrong with busses, but some of the lesser routes don’t operate as frequently.

The war tunnels are a must, a few years ago they opened up a section that was unfinished so you can now get a really good idea of how dangerous it would have been for the Russian slaves who were digging them out...it’s a lasting reminder of what islanders went through during the occupation.

There are so many other places of local interest that this thread would rival some of the Disney blog threads! Take a look at this site jerseyheritage/ you’ll find so much useful information on what’s going on and when.

Attractions aside, get up to the mother coast and take in a section or two of our cliff paths, amazing views and such a sense of removal from the hustle and bustle. Winston Churchill Memorial St Brélade is a must see if you’d like a nice relaxing walk through a lovely sub tropical woodland with many plants unique to the area.

I could go on for ages, but it might be best if you have a look and just ping me a message if you need any more information on certain points.

Thank you so much. You really sound like you love your island. All the hotels look really nice and I am very indecisive ! Most posters seem to be recommending St Brelade so I will have a look at the hotels there too. If we have a car we can stay in any area. The Raddison seemed to be easy from the airport but if we have a car it won’t matter.
Thanks again for your help.

It’s a great place to live, even if it is only the same size as Disney World property.

Nothing over here is really that far away to be honest. If you really want luxury, check out the St Brélade bay hotel and the L'Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa.

My mum and her partner love to holiday in Jersey it's her favourite place and always looks lovely. She is well and truly in the older generation and she does say a lot of older people do seem to holiday there but I'd still say go for it, we went to madeira a couple of years ago with our youngest and every e said to us it's an island for older people but we loved it, yep there weren't many families holidaying there and apart from a baby my daughter was only child on plane but we had an amazing holiday and did so many fun and adventurous things, can't wait to return... Our daughter talks about madeira more than Disney lol
