Universal Annual Pass - Tactics!

I'm looking at getting a UAP for 2022, I've never had an annual pass before. I'm planning on visiting there in May, and then July/August. I also want to book a Universal hotel in May, and one of the deluxe Universal hotels for July.

I'm assuming in early May I don't need to worry about the unlimited express pass, but will aim to have one in July

is the current thinking that I should wait until January for the UAP deals, then book the May hotel around that time as the UAP discounts are released 4 months ahead, then in April time book the July hotels

Sound about right? Thanks!

You don't need to give details of your AP when booking only when checking in.
Just make sure you check block out dates

You don’t need the pass to book the hotels. You just need to pick it up when you check in. The AP rates generally have been coming out in batches between 2-5 months out.

I was looking at the Premier Pass but perhaps I only need the Preferred Pass? There's no blockout dates with either of those and gets us free parking

What do the folks here get? And do both of these passes get the same discount on Universal hotels?

I only have seasonal passes as only go in August.
You can book the hotels and keep an eye on prices - if they change you can cancel and rebook (remember exchange rates will make a bit of a difference too).
In you party, you don't need all the same passes. So one could get a higher level pass to get parking/discounts, and the rest could have a lower level one (power pass may be enough?)

Thanks, I assume you book hotels via their website?
Is there a certain time that the AP discounts kick in? 🤔

The discounts are a few months before normally - so book when you see a good price, and then keep an eye on it, and if it drops, cancel and rebook.

We’ve always found it cheaper to book really early. We book with free cancellation and then check for ap discount nearer the time.
