First trip to Vegas
Hi everyone
We are going to Vegas in September for the first time and I feel absolutely clueless! So I'm after any tips that might make it even more enjoyable! Is there anything you wish you knew about on your first trip? What was the highlight of your trip? I want to know everything We are two adults staying at the Venetian if that helps people answer! Thanks in advance

Hi!
So first tip, tip the check in desk, normally if they can they will give you a free upgrade. (we tipped $20). Make sure you have a copy of your passport with you for ID. Alot of places there will not accept driving licence. There is a club at the top of the Rio. If you go to the show you get in free, but even if you dont it is worth it. The view you get of the strip is second to none! Was the highlight of my trip. There is no shade walking to and from the vegas sign so be prepared for that. I dehydrated on the way back and collapsed. Make sure you have water. Pink's hotdogs are by far the best hot dogs i have ever had! its outside Planet Hollywood. They also normally do a good deal on their beers. I limited myself to a certain amount of money a day gambling, because it can be very addictive! That's all the good tips i can think of right now! But just have fun!

I’ve been to Vegas many times for 10-12 days each year , and my best days have been the ones with nothing planned and where we’ve just wandered along the strip stopping off as we please
I’ve never had my photo driving licence refused anywhere in America as ID .. Upgrades depend on many things how busy the hotel is how long you stay etc I’m off back in sept for 10 days I don’t expect a upgrade as it’s a long stay and also there’s a big event on the next weekend ( which is why I’m going ) Take comfy shoes you will walk miles we do even with having a hire car |

Take your time the strip hotels are massive so don’t try and it it all in one day. Don’t buy your drinks in the hotel go to Walgreens much cheaper if you can pre book a show . We love Vegas done hoverdam and Grand Canyon last time . Don’t forget you need to pay a resort fee . Me and my partner like using the Duce bus cheap and will get you from the stip to down town if you don’t use a car all so the sdx bus you can use to get to the outlets if this is your type of thing.
What date you in Vegas we are there from 7 till 17 flying virgin . |

My tip would be to research what you really want to see and have a rough plan to group things together. Even if the look as though they’re next door believe me, it’s not “close” .
We are going in September too and arrive on the Sunday after NASCAR so are hoping we might be lucky with an upgrade but happy with the room we have booked. |

In Vegas I’ve never had my photo DL accepted to buy alcohol. It’s fine for checking into hotels. I’ve also been stopped on the casino floor and asked for ID (not trying to buy alcohol, just watching hubby use the slots) and they wouldn’t accept DL. I do have a baby face though so if you look under 25 they will persecute you for ID. My husband has a beard and looks his age and he’s gotten away with showing his student ID 🤷
I would say prepare for the heat so don’t plan a loaded itinerary because the heat does slow you down. It can be too hot some days to sit by the pool but it was gorgeous at night swimming under the stars so you have to go with the flow to a certain extent. Drink loads of water, it’s easy to dehydrate even if you don’t feel thirsty. |

Do some shows, our favourite would be some of the cirque de soleil shows.

Take comfy shoes - we always end up walking miles (like a WDW park day!).
Don’t forget the free stuff - there’s loads to do that’s free like the Bellagio fountains, visiting the hotels where theming is fabulous and just soaking up the atmosphere. Look at Travelzoo and Groupon before you go - we’ve had some great deals for High Roller, Eiffel Tower and shows which we’ve bought in advance of our visit. Don’t try to cram everything in and plan the things you want to see so you can group them together as someone else suggested. Keep some of your luggage allowance as you may find some bargains if you go shopping at any of the outlets! Try to get off the strip if you can. We’ve had some great days out when we’ve hired a car and driven out to Hoover Dam, lake mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon. It’s a lovely break from the madness of the strip. My most random tip is about nosebleeds. The climate is so dry that I always suffer when we’re there. I buy some saline nose spray in CVS and that sorts me out! |
