Disneyland Paris could be Closed until the Autumn?

France announced this week that its lockdown measures will continue until at least 11 May and that its borders will remain closed until the crisis is resolved.

It was also announced that entertainment and leisure venues, sporting events and festivals would not reopen until two months later.

So at present the earliest Disneyland Paris could begin to open would be mid July and that is assuming that the lockdown date isn't extended again.

The logistics of reopening is huge and Disney can not just unlock the gates and resume as normal. There will need to be changes made to ensure Guest and Cast Members health and wellbeing. Also there will be a massive task of re-employing Cast Members many of which would have probably had their temporary summer contracts cancelled.

Assuming France does not extend the current lockdown any further then work at Disneyland Paris could start mid July and it would take several weeks to fully recruit Cast Members, train any temporary Cast Members, complete any remedial work required to the parks prior to opening and implement and test any procedural changes.

So if Disney think it is financially viable we may not see the parks start to open until August or September.

What are your thoughts on this?

but our (French here) borders are closed

it seems the UK can still enter even though they're not part of the Schengen area, but who knows what's to come

Not so sure why if you had a date of being able to open, you would leave the operational side until that time to start ?

Nothing stopping Disney getting everything in place to conform with the mid July opening, even if it was scaled back in terms of numbers of visitors.

Personally think when the government give the go-ahead will be the date the park opens.

We are due to go in September. I am trying to stay optimistic but also realistic at the same time.

Or balance is due early June... I was hoping timelines would be clearer by then!

We were due to be there early July. We moved it yesterday until July 2021. I couldn’t see it being open partially or at all so felt it best to give things chance to hopefully settle down.

I honestly can’t see how any theme park can reopen until there’s a vaccine. Numbers would have to be so low to enforce social distancing I’m struggling to see how it would be economical to open up.
Good article here:
