I use eggs that are over a month out of date, I do the glass of water test beforehand though,

put them in a pan add water. if they come up don't use them

If they sink and smell ok when opened then then I'd def use them you can usually tell quite easily if eggs are off.
last week I found a tray of eggs in the back of the cupboard dated april 20 - all tested find and made perfectly good cupcakes

If you refrigerate them they last much longer than the BBD. That info was given to me by the owner of one of the biggest egg producers in the world.

Always eat eggs well after the sell by date never had a bad one yet
Didn't know about the floating test though see you learn something new everyday 😀
