Literally just had the message - hotel guests only, wonder if it will be quiet?!

Hello neighbour!

It’s still bouncing down but the winds have eased off. Just a bad day at home now. This morning the palm trees were blowing sideways and the noise woke us up several times.
We got here yesterday afternoon, thinking that leaving Orlando would mean
that we would escape a 'direct hit', but as you say, it was still pretty wild...

At 10am, I said to my wife that we had been lucky not to have a power cut,
which or course happened a few minutes later - I should have kept quiet!

Amazingly, less than an hour later while looking out of the window of the cottage
wondering if we would get our power back before midnight, I spotted a chap working
at the top of a nearby pole (still in near storm force winds) and the power soon clicked
back on - those guys deserve a medal!

OK some on here have had flight disruptions and some have been held up by the rain and wind. But at least everybody is safe and we can crack on as normal from tomorrow.
Makes you realise how Florida weather can become so dangerous so quickly.
I couldn’t live permanently under that threat even though we are sun worshippers.
