When we take it we have always kept it in the bag and never had an issue or had to take it out at MAN/MCO/MLB but if it uses water you would need to remove this or it may flag on the airport scanners. My OH has a ResMed Airsense10 which works fine with just an american plug adapter.

It might be worth you looking at some room tours of your hotel on YouTube so you can see where the outlets are located but we have never had an issue, we normally stay at either Rosen Inn International or Endless Summer.

I've been travelling to the US with mine for 10 years now. Never been challenged about having it as an extra bag (but always make sure I have a screenshot of the airline's policy on it being considered "essential medical equipment"). I usually pack the bag in my cabin bag on way out, but separately on the way home (when I need all possible extra space). It's been fairly random whether I've had to take the bag out of my cabin bag at security, I'd say about 30% of the time. I've only once had a secondary check (in the US), where the officer shouted "whose is the breathing machine?" at the top of her lungs and made me take out each component to be swabbed. I've never bothered to tell the airline I'm carrying it as I never use it flying to the US. I did however inform BA when I flew to Singapore last week as I flew Business Class and had the space and the power socket to be able to use it (and I had a fabulous 7 hour sleep!)

A couple of tips: you may have been issued with the standard 1m tube but you can ask for a 3m one which is helpful especially in hotel rooms if no bedside cabinet. And have they given you a humidifier unit with your machine? I only found out about these accessories at one of my follow ups when i explained issues i was having.
Also, we bought a US lead from www.kenable.co.uk as there's always a fight for the adapters when we travel. I've never needed to take an extension lead, the length of the leads and having the 3m tube has been sufficient even when the nearest plug has been across the room.

Brilliant thank you . I don’t have a humidifier as yet , they said they would discuss further options at my review which I’m not sure will be before we go as yet . I’ll look into the us lead as well as that would help. I have told virgin so they gave me extra hand luggage .

Thanks stevie , good shout . Ill see if I can find a room tour in the new poly tower . I know they now have more usbs but not sure on sockets

This time on exit of Iceland to New York I got the SSSS on my boarding pass, so the Cpap did get swabbed, they weren't interested at all in the letter for it etc. even though the security officer was a trainee, so very thorough.
Re the humidifier, get one, I have one and sleep much better no dry throat or dry nose. Mines been to France, Portugal, Iceland and USA in the past year, with no problems travelling or using it. Mine has an embedded sim and reports to the hospital and an app on my phone to update me/them on quality of sleep

I would recommend contacting them now and asking for a humidifier unit - they should be able to send one out or at least have it ready for you at your review. I am under the Sleep Clinic at Guy's and have found in the last couple of years that they no longer keep much in stock of the accessories so they are usually ordered and sent out to me after my appointment.

Please don’t worry, we have been travelling with my husband’s CPAP for a number of years now without incident. We just carry it onboard in its bag with his letter inside, no issues going through security. We do include details of sleep apnea on insurance.

Hope this helps👋
