MLB tips

We’re flying in to Melbourne this year for the first time, as flights worked out around £1000 cheaper for us all than MCO. We’ve done MCO plenty of times and know to pick our luggage up at the first conveyor, what to expect at customs, how to pick the car up etc.
Are there any tips that we should know about for MLB that will help to make it all smoother? We haven’t booked a car yet, but will probably go with budget or Alamo. Budget prices currently winning.

Melbourne is a lovely small airport, you will not need many tips as it is all very straight forward.
You will collect your bags then go straight through to border control, once through there it is a very short walk to rental collections, on a good day 15-20 minutes from off the plane to the outside and the rental cars normally a painless airport to arrive and fly from.

We have been through once and agree with the above poster. It’s pretty easy.
We did have a longer wait for luggage and then that meant a queue for immigration but it wasn’t difficult. We just had to be patient. I still think it was faster than at MCO.

Leaving there isn’t much there. I think one small shop and a dunkin donuts. So make sure you eat before you arrive.

Fab thank you, sounds nice and easy enough. We haven’t flew with TUI either and usually do Virgin, but I’m sure the flight will be fine, it was navigating the airport and saving time that I was concerned about.

Melbourne is a lovely little airport.
Get off the plane, small walk, pick up luggage and customs is right next to luggage claim.
Car hire and bus transfers are couple mins walk.

On way out - check in is right through the doors.
Small walk to security.
There’s a Dunkin’ doughnuts at the bottom, walk up the ramp and there’s a bar, shop, duty free and place to get sandwiches and pizza.
Lovely little lounge.
Water machine to fill up your bottle.

Concur with previous posts

Third time flying into Melbourne with TUI this coming October.Although longer transfer we prefer MLB to MCO.Airport is a breeze to get through, luggage pick up,security etc and staff are so friendly

Although from MCO its a shorter transfer time we found we were through MLB in such a short time in comparison to MCO that there was not a great difference on our arrival time on I-drive

Always found TUI flights good.Meal outbound was very good, not so inbound and they are not shy with the refreshments. The only minor gripe would be,thought the entertainment choice wasn,t particularly good

Totally agree with previous posters, I have special assistance booked for our October trip, as we did in 2023, and the airport/TUI staff could not have been more helpful. Off the plane, down one level to baggage reclaim, straight through C & I next door, and a short distance to the car hire desk. There they all just serve the next person in line, no trying to sell you anything, and then a short distance to the car park for your hire car. Nice drive back to davenport, lets you get used to all the knobs and switches on the car. Also if you go PE, nice little lounge for your use on the return journey, all in all a very nice experience using TUI/MLB.

I agree with the other posts. I've been to MLB twice and it really couldn't be quicker or simpler. My wife and I are in our 80s and find it so much quicker and easier than travelling through MCO,
