That time of year again. Insurance!

Does anyone have a policy with a travel insurance company where you DON'T have to update them every time you go to GP?

My Tesco policy didn't last year. They said...

Now the wording has changed and I have to update them. So if I had a throat infection next week (pretty standard thing) and took antibiotics and it cleared up, then I'd have to phone and tell them. Which they would then add into my policy. Which would incur an admin charge (which they can't tell me how much because it's not standard and based on a 'live system') and may also increase my premium. Every time I go to the GP for any reason. Whether or not related to my pre existing conditions I already declared. Because it's classed as a change in health.

This is for an annual policy. It's a farce every time cos of pre existing conditions. Took an hour on the phone this time to renew. So I can't bear getting single trip ones (which might resolve this problem to an extent).

Some insurers don't require you to update them about your health unless you've been advised by your doctor not to travel. Can anyone recommend a company where this is the case?

TIA

Thanks for the heads up as our tesco policy runs out beginning of June and last time I rang to inform them I had broken my ankle she said I would need to do a new policy next time as we normally automatically renew with them so I have this to look forward to in may before our vegas trip. They will hate me as I will be ready with a list just incase . Let us know how you get on please.

Also if you have an annual policy and in the year you have a test or see a gp you need to tell them before the policy renews

I've cancelled with Tesco and taken out a policy with Aviva. Even with a load of pre existing conditions, I've been able to do this online, with them all covered and I only had to provide minimal detail. All done in 15 minutes. The good thing is it's in the policy details you don't have to inform them of every time you go to GP or have a new health issue. Bad thing is it's not as much cover as other providers out there. It's cost £138. Which was on a par with Tesco. I added on baggage cover as this wasn't included like in other policies. And max claim is £10m. Which is okay for Europe but it's not loads for the US. It's all just a gamble and what if scenario isn't it. I hate travel insurance.
