Due to fly home Friday - what steps do I need to follow if flight gets cancelled?

I am hoping our flight from MCO - LGW will go ahead on Friday evening but in case is does get cancelled, what steps do I need to follow?

Do we still travel to the airport (if safe to do so)?

Will I need to find our own accommodation or will this be something BA will be responsible for if flights are cancelled?

What will happen with our car hire if we are unable to return it as planned on Friday?

I will be sure, in the event our flight does get cancelled, that I keep all receipts for food, accommodation (if we need to source our own) and any additional costs for insurance purposes but is there anything else I need to be planning ahead for?

Sorry for all the questions.

I would like to know the answers to these as well as we fly home Thursday at 5:05pm with Virgin Atlantic. Any help to these questions would be appreciated.

Missed that- so soon after the last one! Fortunately CAT 1 is a weak one!

I suspect you’ll need to arrange your own accommodation; might be worth asking your hotel/villa if you’re able to stay put?

Keep an eye on whether MCO is closing; if unsafe to fly, they will close and everyone must leave the airport; they’ll give 24 hours or so notice if they’re closing; get in touch with BA to rearrange flight home if they don’t get in touch to say they’ve already done it for you; there may be a delay in getting you on a new flight, eg, if MCO reopens on Saturday, the passengers already booked on Saturdays flight keep their seats and BA fit you in where they can and this may be a different route offered.

Contact your car hire once you know your flight is cancelled to extend rental.

Contact any UK airport parking or taxi pick ups if necessary.

Keep all receipts to claim from your travel insurance when you get home.

Good luck!

About car parking at Birmingham Airport.
We were supposed to fly out of Melbourne with TUI to Birmingham on Thursday 10th November but the flight was cancelled. I've tried to contact the Airport but the lines are continuously busy so I emailed them on 8th November telling them of the delay but have had zero response. I have no idea what is going to happen when I retrieve my car from Car Park No.4. Has anyone had this happen to them at an NCP airport car park? Thanks

I can’t speak for Ncp but we have offsite parking through holiday extras and we have a note on the slip to say £15/day for extra days.

We will be on the same flight as you tomorrow morning 👋🏼
