Will insurance pay out for accommodation & car hire?

No word from TUI on our flight but as Melbourne airport closes at 2pm Wednesday unless they pull the flights back it looks like it will be cancelled.

Got stuck here in covid and flight cancelled and Direct Line weren’t going to pay out whilst waiting for Aer Lingus to see about rescheduling so had to curtail the trip and claim back for new flights.

What will happen with extra costs for a hurricane? Will insurance be likely to pay out for extended car hire and more accommodation?

Thanks in advance.

you need to look at your insurance to see what is covered

I suspect you’d be on the flight out that we came in on. I’ve created a post about what I got from them re our outbound flight. Now hopefully going out Friday.

We are wondering the same thing. The amount offered by tui doesn't cover us to stay where we are and doesn’t mention car hire either.

Same, my insurance were useless - after waiting on hold for a while, their system was down and couldn’t tell me anything so I have to phone back. I have a feeling it’s coming out of my own pocket as the wording of the policy details public transport - not sure a plane counts as public transport?

Insurance should pay out assuming you are covered for hurricanes, but all depends what is written on your policy. Normally natural disasters are an extra that you need to add on.
