I had no idea until reading this thread that the coming summer is predicted to be a high hurricane season. So, thank you to those who have contributed.

Also, it's very interesting to see the map shared by Claudette, thank you to Nev for supplying the information about last year. As someone who has no insider knowledge of weather predictions and no Crystal ball it is interesting to read the insights of others.

The only comment I can make is based on my previous experience. We have only ever travelled to Orlando in the summer, end of July to mid August for us usually. This year is our 10th anniversary. Last year was the driest year we have ever known. We had hardly any rain at all, I had read trip reports from people out in Orlando in mid July who were rained out on a daily basis, but we must have got lucky with a sweet spot. I had prepared my brother and family who were first timers for the daily rainstorm, and we had talked about how spectacular the Florida rain is, but it never came. We felt like frauds!

Anyway, my point is if you are fixed for your dates then try to not worry about it too much. We have no choice but to travel in the school holidays, some years it's been torrential daily and last year the first two weeks of August were the driest we have ever known. You can't change it, all you can do is try to be prepared for the rain and have a plan of what you will do in the eventuality.

I hope this summer the hurricanes stay out at sea as they seemed to do last year, and I hope everyone enjoys their trips.

We have been to the Gulf Coast the last two Septembers and in 2022 we cancelled our Naples week (free cancellation) and went back to Orlando. Last year we went just after Idalia and didn’t have any problems. Would like to go this Sept but will wait and see

In Siesta key currently. Tropical depression over south Florida for the past couple of days.
8 inches of rain fell last night - the road outside was flooded and everyone’s rubbish bins were floating down the street !

Had some sun today in between the downpours.

Oh no! I hope it clears up soon. Is it just south florida impacts or Orlando too?

It was chucking it down all night last night at ours and more rain forecast but central Florida desperately needs rain
But areas damaged by Ian don’t as they are still recovering from that one

Invest 90 - first storm of the season - There is a risk for parts of east central Florida to receive substantial rainfall this afternoon, potentially over 7", which could lead to minor to moderate flooding (from the National Weather Service Orlando)

Weather here in Sarasota supposed to be clearing up today/tomorrow as invest 90 moves away - now heavy rain over Miami.

Was actually a pleasant evening yesterday but got woken up at 3am with the rain hammering down.

Did get 25 mins around the pool yesterday during a short break in the storm clouds.

Off to the mall today as it’s too unsettled to bother going to the beach etc

We arrived Friday 14/6 to cloudy sky, the rain arrived at about 6pm and stayed for the rest of the night, the water was ankle deep! Saturday was very similar, yesterday was the first day we managed to get in the pool. This is not ordinary Florida rain that comes & goes in a flash, it is persistent soaks you to the skin in a minute rain that lasts for hours, it’s also pretty windy!
The weather is currently dominating all the news channels out here with really bad storms in many places, we are apparently getting the tail end of these storms in Orlando.
