Norse - this has annoyed me - price 8th Oct to get out

Price gouging. Not in the legal sense as airlines are regulated by FAA rather than the price gouging laws but it's still a bit off.

Unfortunately prices work on supply and demand, and demand will be very high due to the circumstances.

If you're desperate to get out then consider flying from Miami. It shouldn't be so bad there.

Norse may also sell their seats in fare classes like BA, Virgin etc?
The screen-shot with the same price on other multiple days looks like that is the case.

There is undoubtably much more demand for seats today to get out.

The higher price is likely because all lower fare class seats have long gone.
If so, that’s the algorithm setting the price just like many other airline websites.

I've seen the OP was already booked on the BA flight to Gatwick tonight at 9.05pm.

Thank you ! Yes Im on BA tonight - the plane coming over is en route. I was checking contingency plans as I was on hold to BA which led me to Norse or Miami as back ups 👍🏼

Norse may have increased their price to put off non Norse passengers.
Some airlines have done this in the past temporarily to give their own ticketed passengers time to accept flight changes in circumstances like this.
