A bit confusing so after some more help... Haven't used this system before... So for 2 of us.. LGW to MCO, 25000 mile points each plus £239 each! So far I have 17000 points so would need to buy 32000 points and with the offer for extra miles this will cost us £435 which makes the total £914ish! I've checked the same flights for cash and coming out at £798! £116 cheaper - after we purchase more miles!
So I ask what would you do? What do you normally do with your points?
We are going this October (already booked)
May 2020, November 2020 (honeymoon) and Oct or Nov 2021 for mum's 60th and with family! What would you do! TIA x
If you’ve already got flight booked for October, don’t forget you will earn miles on those flights, but you could, if it’s worth it, buy the miles to take you to 25k and then book 1 reward and 1 cash. Then ask Virgin to link the bookings, we did this for our Honeymoon in 2014.

It’s a shame they don’t do combi-fares anymore. When we went for our honeymoon in 2014, I did 1x combi-fare (EC cash out and PE miles back) and 1x miles and money (EC out and PE back.) It saved us over £600 on the cash price. I did have to book over the phone due to the complexity, we had 2 separate booking refs but they linked them for us.

For the next trip in Oct 2022, yes I’ve been saving miles since 2014! Mainly converting Clubcard points. I already have enough for 3x EC returns, and I’m working out, how, in the next 3 years I can turn them into PE returns or EC/Upper returns.

We booked economy out and back premium with miles for 35k and about £300 in taxes. We’re leaving Orlando today and 2 upper seats opened up this morning but only 1 with miles. Upgraded the wife for a further 25k and £100 over text (call would’ve been costly!). Asked at the airport if they’d open the last seat for miles and they did, so now we’re both flying back upper.
So economy out, upper back for 60k miles and £400 each. Good use of miles if you ask me!

I've been working out how much an upgrade from econ to PE would be using miles vs money to try to get the best deal

The option to buy more miles is good at present and at times you can get a bargain on boosting your miles.

I had 26,000 points previously. Can I use those points to upgrade both fights to premium on the way back
I don’t believe you can upgrade the companion flight as I rang them to ask this
