Value stay - POP or Movies
Due to budget where looking at these 2 hotels. Pros and cons of each please. I can't decide. Would be a preferred room in whichever we stay, and like the refurbished rooms.
POP. +Own buses & direct to parks -furthest bus stops +close to AofA for food court +use AofA buses too -theming not as good Movies. +DS would love theming -shared buses and more stops Any comments please? If the buses of an evening at park closure are really that bad we would consider paying for Ubers. |

I think you’ve summed it up well. They’re very similar - we’ve stayed at Sports and Pop. If we were to go again I’d choose Pop as it’s closer to the parks.

The All Stars resorts don't share buses in the mornings or at park close, they only share in the quiet middle of the day. So really, for the majority of the day your Movies bus will be a direct one.

Was just coming on here to ask the same question as myself and DD2 are going to MNSSHP and wanted to book a 1 night stay so we haven't got to travel back to the Royal Pacific too late. Im swinging towards POP at the moment.

I've stayed at Pop a few times and Movies once (and only for a night). I have a clear preference for Pop and it is my default "go-to" resort when I go to WDW.
Why Pop over ASMovies - Newly refurbished rooms (though I believe Movies is in process of undergoing refurbishment) - Good food court plus also close to AoA food court as an alternative - Can use AoA buses too - Skyliner is coming to Pop/AoA - Buses only shared very rarely at Pop (I've been on shared Pop/AoA buses but this is at incredibly weird times post park closing). ASMovies seems to have more shared buses in the middle of the day. - Pop has a more central location, which means potentially shorter travel times to places like Disney Springs (East side of WDW). Although ASMovies is closer to AK. Also, I didn't have a great experience at ASMovies that one time - check in was a madhouse, there was a long queue to leave luggage and to retrieve luggage (nearly missed the Magical Express as the queue to get left luggage from bell services was so long), they downgraded me from a preferred room to a regular room without telling me (they did refund me the price difference but again this was without telling me and I had to find out on my own). In contrast I've never had these issues at Pop (besides the time just before Hurricane Irma, but that was exceptional circumstances). At any rate, Pop remains my favourite resort for the price point in WDW, and I'm more than willing to pay a slight premium to stay at Pop over the All-Stars. (Planning to head back to WDW in November and I have a room booking for Pop!)

I totally agree the new rooms at POP are much nicer than the All star rooms.

If you can not guarantee a refurb room at Movies, which I don’t think you can as tI understand there’s loads to be done, definitely go for Pop. The refurb rooms have been done extremely well and they have the Murphy table combo for some liveable space in the day. I haven’t stayed in them but seen plants of YouTube videos.

For 1 night 1 would stay at the cheapest resort on site. Last year we stayed at All Stars nice room clean and tidy in the Hoops area, we got a bus at 5 every one had a seat and after the event they put on extra buses we were lucky again to have a seat. Happy holiday and make lots of happy memories..if we were staying longer then my 1st choice would be Pop, enjoyed this resort more than POR.

Movies because it’s a smaller resort and I love the toy story theme in the preferred section.
They don’t share buses except for middle of the day hardly anyone on the bus times! Have stayed at all stars twice and shared a bus once and that was coming back from AK at lunch time. As the resorts are smaller than pop, all stars has the better buses because there’s far less people in the queue for them. The buses are better than por which no one ever seems to mention as sharing, where sometimes they stop at FQ and then the other 3 internal por bus stops before you get to where you want to go.
