Going to university in Spain
My son wants to go to Cordoba University in Spain.Where do we start with application, accommodation etc. If anyone has any experience with this I would be grateful for any advice/tips.
I know we cannot apply for funding here in the U.K. as the course will solely be in Spain. Thanks in advance if anyone can help |

Hi,
I can’t help other than give my experiences of applying to a foreign university. We live in France and my son has applied to universities in the UK and HK. For both, even though he has english as his mother tongue he had to prove his level of English as he will be taking the French equivalent to A levels. You may want to check, if the course is in Spanish, what their language requirements are. Secondly, funding. We are funding via a student loan from our French bank. At less than 1% interest rate it is worth it. Having said that, if he were to go to a UK university then he could get the same funding as a British resident could. I don’t know what the possibilities are for funding a Spanish university. Finally, have you looked at what the situation will be after Brexit? For EU students entering UK universities in 2019 Brexit was not an issue. I don’t know if this will change for 2020. Sorry I can’t be more helpful - for HK we read a lot! Edited at 10:21 PM. |

Thank you for your help. Brexit certainly complicates things and I think each EU country may have its own rules. I want to make his dream come true so will do as much research as possible.
