Frequent WDW, first time DLP questions
We’ve been to WDW for the last 4 years and are heading to Florida again this summer, with just tickets to MNSSHP on one night. In all this trips, thedibb has been spectacularly helpful and so with a brief first trip to DLP potentially in the works I was excited to come on and read a summary of what I needed to know, plus possibly differences from WDW and was amazed to draw a blank. I expected a sticky at the top but nothing seems to fit the bill. Obviously if such a thing exists, please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, here are a few questions please.
How do I need to plan differently from WDW? Do I get fast passes? What are crowds like in comparison? Are there fees to park? What are the dining plans like? Is 2-3 days enough? Any help at all would be gratefully received. |

DLP is just not the same beastie as WDW, in any way, shape or form .
No need to plan much at all for DLP. Paper fastpass using the fastpass machines beside the rides (there aren't that many fastpass rides at DLP), everyone gets the same opportunities to get them (whether onsite guests or offsite). I think the Studios character meets are done using an app in advance, but the main park ones are the usual queue. Crowds - entirely depends on when you're going - weekends are generally crazy busy and to be avoided. Dining plans are not worth paying for at DLP in my opinion. Midweek, yes 3 days should be enough (I like 3 or 4 nights and 4 days in the parks, because then it feels like a proper break away), I would never say 2 days is enough at DLP, although I know people who don't rate it much would say it was. If you're onsite, use EMH. Yes, there are parking fees if you're offsite at DLP. Edited at 09:05 PM. |

Oh, and do the tickets that come with a package on disneyholidays.co.uk include park hopping?

Wednesdays also tend to be busy because French children don't go to school on a Wednesday but they go on Saturday instead. So if planning a trip into Paris a Wednesday is a good day to do it

Thanks again. Does anyone know what breakfast options are like if paying OOP? We aren’t big breakfast eaters and would probably grab a coffee and pastry in the parks if that is an option?

no problem at all doing this - Cable Car bakery and Victorias are usually open on Main St USA in the Disneyland Parc from park opening, as is En Coulisse in the studios and then there are various "trailers" in the studios which have hot and cold drinks, pastries etc. If you're walking down through the Village to the parks in the morning, you also have Earl of Sandwich, McDonalds and Starbucks .
If you're arriving by local RER train, or are taking the onsite shuttle buses from your hotel to the park, you arrive right beside the park entrance train station, and just inside the train station theres a Relay/Casino convenience store which also does coffee/OJ/pastries. Edited at 02:27 PM. |

I’ve done WDW 4x and DLP 4x
Lots of perks to DLP for sure. Depending on when you go 3 nights is 100% enough time. Stay on site if you can get the right price. Disney hotels will offer park tickets for each day of your stay as part of the package including the day you leave. This includes park hopping. Best of all the extra magic allows you to get most of the big rides in before it picks up in any way. The 2 parks are side by side which is a massive pro and any of the Disney hotels are easy walking distance except maybe Davy Crocket. Ride wise - great unique rides and better/great alternatives to classic rides. For me Paris has the best Pirates/Mansion/Space/Big thunder. Unique rides include Ratatouille, Crush and Indy. It’s got my favourite Disney Castle and of all The Disney castle parks Paris is my favourite... Studios leaves a lot to be desired but it’s still decent. |
